Happy Jack winter multi-use trail grooming updates
Grooming has ended
We have suspended grooming operations for the season. Thanks for a great year and we’ll see you next winter!
Wednesday, April 4
Four to six inches of white fluff at Happy Jack. All the MUT TRAILS are groomed except Crow Creek. These different wind patterns caused some very unusual drifting along portions of haunted and Aspen. Used the sled on all trails then went back and caught Snowshoe, Headquarters, Haunted, Lower Aspen and Pole Creek with the groomer attachment. I will hit black ice, dilly dally, blackjack and Aspen proper with the groomer attachment tomorrow. That will more than likely be the final groom of the 22/23 season. Cold temps tonight should set everything up nicely for tomorrow.
Enjoy

MUT trails are being groomed right now. Somewhat blustery and snow is very soft!! Skiing and snow showing is recommended if you have to ride, extremely low PSIs are helpful... Your rear tire should feel like it's almost flat. Especially on Aspen and Haunted
Cold temps tonight should help set everything up for the next few days.
Enjoy!

Marc says:
Good evening all,
After today's temps and some usage the trails are still very soft! Remember to keep tires around 2 PSI and if you are a foot traffic user please tread lightly. If you are leaving bombholes or big gouges when you push off, it might be a good day to Snowshoe or ski.
Aspen groomed out nice and it will probably be the best trail this weekend. We just need to give it a good overnight to set up. Other than that all trails are groomed except Crow Creek. Try to use responsibly and have fun out there this weekend!
Also a huge shout out to whoever snowshoed Aspen on Wednesday! You are awesome, they should erect statues in your name!!!
Also: Tonight will more than likely be the last machine groom of middle Aspen unless we get some some substantial accumulation. The exposed rocks are just about too much to sneak the groomer attachment through
Friday, March 17
As of last night, trails seemed to have survived the heat remarkably well. Very firm, but not icy. Some pot holes and ruts but not as much as expected. Get out and ride.

Grooming is happening this afternoon and evening on the normal core MUT trails (The machine wouldn't start last night). We were graced with 2- 4 inches of fresh low density snow, so the trails will be a little soft on top. Running low PSI and leaving flat tracks as opposed to round will help sustain the trail a little longer.
Ideally giving it till tomorrow would be optimal for bikes and boot traffic. Haunted and Aspen will benefit the most from the overnight temps to set up firm.
Stay warm out there and enjoy.

HQ and Haunted got groomed last night, too cold to do much else. Little accumulation but substantial drifting. Aspen will be bad, so bikes and foot traffic won't be helpful... I'll give everything else a try this evening. Stay warm
Friday, February 10
All the usual MUT trails were groomed last night. Pole Creek, Snowshoe, Dilly Dally are running awesome as usual. HQ, Haunted, Aspen, Middle Aspen, and Crow Creek are soft in places from drifting and shovel work so low psi and flat contact at the surface with tires will help. Foot traffic would not yet be recommended on Crow. With several events planned on the trails this weekend please be courteous and use responsibly so everyone can enjoy.
Have fun out there!

6+ inches of new snow overnight.
The usual suspects on the MUT trails are going to be soft, drifted and mostly impassable (AKA Headquarter, Haunted Forest, Crow Creek, Aspen). If we can hold off with bikes and foot traffic till they get hit at least once it will save a lot of shovel work... As soon as the wind dies a little bit I'll start hitting them. Skiers and snowshoers as always your help is always appreciated. Be safe !!
Thanks everyone.

MUT trails groomed yesterday afternoon/evening. There was a small accumulation of low density snow. This meaning even though there is hard trail underneath, it is still a soft pack. Letting it sit overnight would be beneficial however, if you feel the need to ride please use low pressure. I know low pressure is arbitrary but while sitting on your bike, the tire it should not be making a round or concave impact, rather it should be making a flat track.
Thanks, if we all do our part to use responsibly we can make it till the next snow 8 days from now

Hi all, multi-use trails are still being reclamated from the drifting and posthole impacts. Pole Creek and snowshoe are bulletproof and riding amazing however haunted forest and headquarters are getting softer by the minute. Anything more than 3 PSI is not recommended on Middle Aspen, Aspen, Haunted, and Headquarters. There's lots of grooming and hand digging going on so please be aware of changing snow conditions in certain areas.
Tuesday, January 31
MUT trails are groomed, bikes please use low psi as the corners and problematic drift zones are going to be soft. Remember to use responsibly, and all users should take a look back at your impact and adjust accordingly.
Enjoy

Good morning all, headquarters, haunted forest and Middle Aspen are groomed for use...
Bikes are encouraged to use 3 PSI or less as it is still very soft on those trails. The pressure that is working on Pole Creek and snowshoe may not be appropriate for the others trails
Aspen proper is extremely soft so bikes and foot traffic is not advised yet... Working on it now but there is quite a bit of drifting.
The track damage from hike a bike and foot traffic on headquarters and Haunted Forest yesterday was massive. It took a lot of time to reclamate it back into a usable service.
Go enjoy but be please responsible trail users!

Everything but Crow is groomed. Skiers and snowshoers you are awesome! Bikes try and watch your pressures. When you sit on your bike, your sidewall should look like your grandma's elbow skin.
Side note... If you do snowshoe or ski to help pack make sure to stay in the track and not widen it. It runs where it does so we can follow it and continue a good pack and it runs where it misses obstacles like logs and rocks.
Thanks for all the friendly greetings when we meet on the trail and have fun out there!
